Littleworth / Shellingford / Hanneys neighbourhood update - July 2010
It has been so nice to get out and about this month, enjoying the sunshine. PCSO Sue Haynes and I had a lovely time at Stanford in the Vale’s two day festival. We post-coded lots of cycles and gave away lots of property marking kits. We were also privileged to be shown the original 1924 Police cycle used by your local Police Officer PC Smith, who lived and worked in Stanford. What a machine!! I declined the offer to have a ride on it, as the number of witnesses to me falling off, would have been too great.
Kingston Bagpuize fete was also a great success. We met members of our community we had not met before and was able to catch up with those we had. We gave out advice and many property marking kits. We are looking forward to the Fyfield fete next month, please stop to chat if you attend also.
If you wish to obtain a kit, or if you have a fete or event you would like your neighbourhood team to attend please contact us on 0845 8 505 505.
Over recent weeks there has been an increase in the number of incidents of criminal damage to cars and houses. It is believed that an air powered weapon may have been used. Although most of the incidents have been small, it has been windows that have been targeted.
A mobile vehicle valet service van, with all the owners’ equipment, has been stolen from a driveway in Southmoor, leaving the owner distraught.
Property has been stolen from farm buildings in Littleworth.
Unfortunately we have suffered burglaries in our area; Tubney, Buckland and Kingston Bagpuize were targeted, where jewellery and cash was taken.
Please remember in the warm weather open doors and windows are an invitation to the opportunistic burglar. If you would like any crime reduction advice please contact your Crime Reduction Officer, Ali Smith on 0845 8 505 505
If you see or have information about the above offences please call the Police on 08458 505 505 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you name will remain anonymous
