Childrens' activities in the village
The village has lots of activities for children, and to make it easier for parents and children to know what's available for children at a glance, we've amalgamated all the village activities. Email us here if you have something you'd like to add.
Family days out in the area
Lots of ideas for family days out in the surrounding area can be found for kids and for adults. Look at both as some fall into both categories.
KBS 14+ Drop-in
A drop-in centre for children aged 14+ runs during school term at the Village Hall.
The 'new' Village Hall is a facility of which the village can be justly proud. Opened in 1987, after a protracted period of active fund-raising and intense negotiations, it has received wide acclaim for its design and facilities.
It is a charity run by an elected Management Committee, and is available for group, society, club and personal bookings throughout the year.

Southmoor Baby and Toddler Group
Welcome to Southmoor Baby & Toddler group, which has been running for over 30 years. The group was based originally at the Methodist church and moved to Southmoor Village hall when it was built. It has been running regularly ever since.
We provide a friendly meeting place for parents, grandparents and carers. The group provides a safe, fun environment for your babies and toddlers to play and socialize. The group meets every Friday from 10 until 11.30am during term time only. We are an inclusive group and welcome new joiners from all locations. There is also plenty of free parking. Do come along and enjoy the benefits not only for your little one, but for you too! The cost is £2 per family with your first session free.
What we offer?
The group offers comfortable babies play area with lots of baby toys, play mats and play gym.
Activities for toddlers including:
• Crafts / play dough • Lots of ride on toys
The children are encouraged to sit up for a communal snack time which helps to develop their social skills. Included in the price are healthy snacks for the children, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits for the adults. We also encourage a breast feeding friendly environment.
Who runs the group?
The group is run entirely by the parents, grandparents and carers who bring their children along. Being a voluntary run group means that we are always looking for helpers. Any help, no matter how small, is always appreciated. We are run by a committee which is open to anyone and we are always looking for new members. As well as this, we have a weekly rota for helping set up and tidying away toys among other important jobs. Being involved gives you a tremendous opportunity to get to know other parents and many friendships have been forged in this way over the years.
As stated before we are an inclusive group. If you are concerned about meeting the cost of the group please let us know as we can help with this.
Toys used at the group are available for hire with a donation of £10 which is excellent value for members. This would be great for birthday parties, christenings and other occasions!
Please note the hall does not provide any facilities for disposing of nappies therefore these must be taken with you at the end of each session.
